About Us:

Our purpose is the rescue, rehabilitation & adoption of abandoned, abused & unwanted reptiles, as well as education of the general public. We also do reptile removal as needed. See below for more info.

Based in central Maine, we've been taking in reptiles for several years. Having kept an uncountable number of animals over the years, this website seemed to be the next logical step. We are not yet registered as a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation, but the paperwork has been started.

We currently cover the entire State of Maine. We are looking for new contributing members from Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island & Vermont who can work as a local contact within those states.

We participate in educational events, including reptile expos and classroom presentations, in an attempt to educate the public about the enormous responsibility it takes to care for these animals. With the popularity of exotic pets skyrocketing, combined with the lack of responsibility and research on the part of many pet owners, the need for rescue work is only increasing. We have stepped in to do our part.

We are proud members of the Maine Herpetological Society.

Reptile Removal:

NEARR is available for removing snakes and other reptiles from your home. In order to qualify for this service...

* You must be within reasonable driving distance of a NEARR member.

* You must have the reptile in your sight, or captured in a container.

* You must be willing to pay a small, reasonable fee for the NEARR members time and traveling costs.

* You must not harm the animal. We will remove the animal for it's safety and your convenience.
