Adoption Information: Adoptions are available to both the general public and to contributing members of NEARR.A contributing member of NEARR is a supporting member who donates a small annual (yearly) fee. These donations go into a fund to partially cover our operating expenses. The way this works is pretty simple. When a snake, lizard, turtle or frog is in need of rescue it is made available first to contributing members of NEARR. If none of the contributing members adopt the herp in question within two weeks, the herp will be made available to the public. Most of our animals may have an adoption fee which helps to cover our operating expenses such as animal pickups, feeding, medical fees, housing, organizing events, etc. Adoption fees range from $10-$200 depending on the type and size of reptile you wish to take into your family. Donated caging and supplies are sometimes available free of charge to contributing members interested in adopting a reptile. Anyone interested in adopting animals from NEARR must have a qualified veterinarian who can treat amphibians & reptiles. NEARR may be willing to ship live animals if the weather permits but the person interested in adopting is responsible for all shipping charges. There is no 'application fee' for submitting an adoption inquiry and the 'adoption fee' is only required if you adopt an animal. Adopt animals before they are publicly available by becoming a contributing member for an entire year for as little as $10.00.
