The New England Amphibian & Reptile Rescue (NEARR) provides permanent placement & adoption to abandoned and abused herps of all sorts; including, but not limited to; snakes, lizards, frogs and turtles.

Many of the animals arriving at the rescue come in with various traumatic injuries. Some are in ill health and are suffering from illnesses such as respiratory infections, parasitic infections and often require immediate medical attention.

Need to free up some extra room? That snake getting too large? That lizard getting aggressive? That frog keeping you up all night? The kids lose interest in that turtle? NEARR accepts direct surrenders of most species of snake, lizard, frog or turtle. If you have an animal that you need to surrender to NEARR for placement & adoption, please click the "Surrender" button on the left.

NEARR also maintains a list of contributing members interested in adopting snakes, lizards, frogs or turtles. We also have people interested in fostering animals in an emergency until permanent placement can be made. If you would like to apply to be added to this list please click on the "Adoption" button on the left.

It is required that you read as much as you can about the species that you are interested in adopting as not all herps are easy to properly care for and many species have individually specific needs.

NEARR is not yet a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation.
